For the Pfingst weekend the yearly ASKO National Championships between the Raiders, Vikings, and Dragons will be taking place. The show room of these match-ups always changes between Vienna and Innsbruck. This year the youth players for the Swarco Raiders will be making the long trip to Vienna to square up with their age old rivals the Vikings and the Dragons. |
Schüler and Jugend ave already tasted success
The Schüler and the Jugend teams of the Swarco Raiders Tirol have already smelled the sweet sent of success. The Swarco Raiders Schüler won a contest against the Red Lions of Hall with a convincing victory 57-00 where the defense was exceptional accounting for 3 of 8 of the TD?s. The Raiders Offense was lead by QB Mario Grohs and was able to direct the dangerous running backs and wide receivers behind a strong offensive line. The heart of the Raiders defense is middle linebackers Björn Vones.
Die Swarco Raiders Jugend got it early as they squared up with the title defending Raiffeisen Vikings from Vienna. With a 63-38 victory it was the offense that couldn?t be stopped. Lead by Sport-BORG Quarterback Phillip Brugger it was reciever Clemens Erlsbacher and running back Christoph Bertsch who were responsible for the majority of the points. On the flip side it was middle linebacker Fabian Seeber who forced the Vikings in important situations to punt and forced three turnovers.
Minis about to kick off season
With expectations high heading into the season the youngest tackel football players in the Swarco Raiders Tirol program and chomping at the bit and are ready to head into their first ASKÖ game. With quarterback Stefan Achammer, Running Back Sandro Platzgummer and Linebacker Romed Zangerle the minis can rely on their combined 16 years of football experience. Additionally these 3 players can look back at 3 Austrian championships in the Mini age group. A work of art which is unmatchable by any other Austrian Minis player!
Saturday Dragons ? Sunday Vikings
A pretty intense day awaits the Minis and Schüler this coming weekend as they play on Saturday against the Danube Dragons and a yet again on Sunday against the Raiffeisen Vikings. The Jugend 'only' play on Saturday against the Danube Dragons and on Sunday the U16 troup of Wiener Prater.
The main goal of the spring season is to get the players as much playing time as possible and also that they will finally have an opponent after the long preparation time. Here they can make their mistakes and work on improving on them for the future and especially for the coming fall season.
