To lose, but not to have everything lost. That is what the Raiders achieved Saturday despite dropping the AFL regular season finale to the Turek Graz Giants, the SWARCO Raiders have still managed to secure semi final home field advantage. On June 26th at Innsbruck's Tivoli Stadium, the Raiders will get a chance at revenge because they will once again face none other than the Giants. |
In the other semi final game the Danube Dragons will face the Raiffeisen Vikings Vienna due to the fact that Saturday?s game was concluded with a 28-3 score after weather forced the game to be called.
'I'm really disappointed. We played really poorly today and never really were able to show what we worked on in practice,' said SWARCO Raiders Head Coach Santos Carrillo. 'We left ourselves hanging. We struggled especially in the defense. We have a lot of work in front of us.' In front of 2,800 fans in Tivoli Stadium, the Tyroleans dropped their first home AFL league game since last year when they lost in the AFL Semis. Top man in the game Saturday was Giant's QB Chriss Gunn who completed 13 of 20 passes for 281 yards and 5 TDs. SWARCO Raiders QB Leon Jackson III complete 29 of 43 passes for 264 yards and 4 TDs and two interceptions. Running Back Tory Cooper had to make it alone without his partner Florian Grein, who had to miss the game due to what is believed to have been food poisoning. Cooper had 11 carries for 32 yards, however he caught 13 passes for 123 yards and 2 TDs. WR Andreas Pröller had 5 catches for 68 yards and a TD.Foto: Schellhorn
