With a furious comeback, the SWARCO Raiders second team won an important 28-21 semi final game against the Turek Graz Giants 2. A strong defensive performance and a stellar outing by Michael Lagger, was able to lock of the Giants 2 fate. |
The Graz 2 team hit the field with a really strong start and found themselves with a 14-0 lead at the conclusion of the first Qtr. RB Andreas Hofbauer was able to shorten that lead with a TD before he was forced out of the game with an injury. From this point onward RB Michael Lagger took over the running game and had some impressive runs that helped the offense move down the field. QB Damaso Tarneller took advantage of these and from shorts distances was able to punch in three TDs. Kicker Clemens Erlsbacher made all four of this extra points and with these the Raiders had 28 points.
As of the second Qtr., the defense tightened down and controlled a varied and talented Giants attack. Following the slow start the defense only allowed one TD in three Qtrs. With this the SWARCO Raiders 2 advance to the Iron Bowl Finale on the 6th of June. This will be against the winner of this weekend?s game between the Vienna Knights and the Styrian Bears.
